Social Emotional Learning

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a vital component in the curriculum for persons with ASD because it teaches them crucial life skills, including the ability to understand themselves, develop a positive self-image, take responsibility for their actions, and forge relationships with the people around them. The curriculum is delivered through structured and explicit teaching, as well as using social narratives and authentic learning experiences to present the various social contexts to students, within which SEL competencies can be applied. With the schoolwide efforts, SAMS aims to help our students discover and develop their strengths and interests, and to become confident and motivated individuals – to be a LIGHT in society, enriching lives with love, hope and joy in their unique ways.
